Music and meditation

Kindness of jazz

The Kindness of Jazz recognizes improvised music as a language that can speak to the soul, often more clearly than the language of words. An offering of worshipful connection, in which the intention of musicians and the openness of listeners create a space in which to share our common humanity. Under this heading falls initiatives such as MacKay’s Music and Meditation evenings, Jazz in June series and Community networking events such as live performances at the Alpha Art Gallery and the Beechwood Night Market evenings held in the MacKay Memorial Hall.

Rowdy Ringers

Sunday School children are taught to play hand chimes on Sunday mornings before classes begin. They then present their songs during special services throughout the year. A wonderful way of enjoying music-learning and music-making!

Service and Outreach Centre 507 drop in

Third Tuesday of each month. MacKay volunteers prepare sandwiches and sweets to serve and have an opportunity to chat with clients at the drop in centre at Centre Town United Church. The MacKay congregation also provides donations throughout the year of clothing and toiletry.

Jazz in June concert series

This series take places every Thursday in June at noon and features diverse musicians from across the Ottawa region.

Adult Education

Book studies with discussions 3 - 4 times during the year. Book subjects vary and sessions run once per week for approximately 6 weeks.
