Programs at MacKay United Church
At MacKay, we believe that meaningful connections and spiritual growth happen in many ways—through study, service, movement, and shared meals. Some of our programs are offered by our congregation, while others are brought to life by wonderful community partners who make MacKay their home. You’re warmly invited to explore what’s happening here!
MacKay Programs
Adult Education: Growing in Faith Together
Throughout the year, we host book studies that invite open-minded discussion and spiritual reflection. Each session typically runs weekly for about six weeks, three to four times a year. The books vary—from contemporary reflections on faith to timeless spiritual classics—and the conversations are always rich and thought-provoking. Everyone is welcome, whether it’s your first time or your fiftieth.
The Curiosity Sessions
A two-day gathering of joyful, soul-stirring celebration of music, wonder, and spiritual imagination brought together musicians, poets, and seekers to explore how curiosity fuels creativity, community, and faith. With songs, meditative jazz, thoughtful conversations, and poetic reflections, the series the sessions affirmed that “illuminating playfulness” can be a spiritual practice. 🔗 Click here to experience the video series.
Nicaragua School Project
Twice a year, MacKay supports the Nicaragua School Project, helping children living in poverty get the supplies they need for school. Items are purchased locally in Nicaragua, supporting both students and their communities. It’s a small gesture that makes a big difference—and a meaningful way for us to live our values globally.
Our Partnerships
As a proud member of the United Church of Canada, MacKay is part of a progressive and welcoming Christian denomination rooted in faith, justice, and love.
The United Church of Canada
Once a month, MacKay volunteers gather to prepare sandwiches and treats for Centre 507, an adult drop-in centre in downtown Ottawa. But it’s about more than food—it’s about connecting with people and offering kindness and conversation. Throughout the year, we also collect clothing, toiletries, and other necessities to support their work.
Centre 507: Food, Friendship & Dignity
We’re part of the Eastern Ontario Outaouais Regional Council, the regional governing body of the United Church of Canada. EOORC is a vibrant network of over 200 communities of faith, supporting one another from the Ottawa Valley to the St. Lawrence River.
