Sound Sanctuary
Each evening brings musicians and poets together in the MacKay sanctuary. Jazz, improvisation and poetry meet in a setting shaped by attentive listening.
Sound Sanctuary grew from MacKay’s long-running Music & Meditation series. The new name reflects a broader sense of what these evenings have become: music, poetry, listening.

Stillpoint Sessions
STILLPOINT SESSIONS – Please register immediately to the Office
Mondays in November 2026 · 5:30-7:30 PM
MacKay United Church Sanctuary
Stillpoint Sessions is a weekly gathering for cultivating stillness in the midst of ordinary life.
Each session begins with a simple spiritual practice—silence, breath, listening, walking, prayer or attention. From there, we explore a theme through conversation, poetry, music and reflection.
We return to the practice at the end, allowing some space for the ideas and experience of the evening to settle.
A simple rhythm:
Arrive —light hospitality and conversation
Practice — 10–15 minutes of guided stillness
Explore — a theme, with poetry, music, reflection and conversation
Practice again — returning to silence and attention
Leave — carrying the practice into the week
No expertise or particular religious commitment is required. Just two hours to slow down, pay attention and see what emerges.
